In August 2013, Michele launched Woodson Fiscal Consulting, LLC (WFC) in New Jersey. Initially, WFC secured its first client in June 2014 for a one-time service. By September 2015, Michele relocated to California, and in December 2016, she officially closed WFC in New Jersey.
In April 2020, Michele transitioned from traditional employment to working as an independent consultant for an organization. Later that year, in September 2020, she felt divinely led to reestablish WFC in California, and she did so. Shortly thereafter, in October 2020, Michele was introduced to Kaci Patterson through her husband, James. This connection marked the beginning of WFC’s partnership with the Black Equity Collective (BEC).
The following year, WFC expanded its impact by supporting the Black Equity Initiative Inland Empire Fund (BEI IE Fund) in August 2021. By February 2022, WFC began working with Congregations Organized for Prophetic Engagement (COPE), and in January 2022, it added Medical Care Coaching Advocacy (MCCA) to its roster. June 2022 brought further growth with WFC’s support of STEM to the Future, and by June 2023, Black Being also joined WFC’s client list.
In August 2023, Mission Financials, Inc. (MiFi) took a significant step forward by filing for an EIN with the IRS. By October 2023, based on a recommendation from a BEC expansion consultant, WFC and BEC deepened their partnership, enabling WFC to hire additional staff. MiFi continued to solidify its foundation by filing Articles of Incorporation with California’s Secretary of State in November 2023.
Early 2024 marked a period of organizational growth for MiFi, starting with the hiring of its first employee, Anna Campos, in February. Michele also officially became an employee of MiFi at that time. In March, MiFi welcomed Agnes Gacheru to the team, followed by the addition of Maya Carpenter in April. Michele’s faith guided her decisions, and in June 2024, she felt led to trust in God’s choices for managing client responsibilities.
The year culminated in September 2024 with MiFi hosting its first annual staff retreat, highlighting the organization’s commitment to team-building and shared purpose.
