In August 2013, Michele launched Woodson Fiscal Consulting, LLC (WFC) in New Jersey. Initially, WFC secured its first client in June 2014 for a one-time service. By September 2015, Michele relocated to California, and in December 2016, she officially closed WFC in New Jersey.
I knew from a young age that math and counting money were two things that I enjoyed, so when I discovered accounting during my sophomore year in college, I knew I found my career.
As a fresh-faced college graduate, I embarked on my accounting journey as an auditor for for-profit companies. I hated it… immediately.
It was during this season that I was forced to take a step back and really evaluate and assess what was important to me in a career and why there was a disconnect with this current role.
I started to look at the people around me, the ones that I credit for helping me become who I am today. My grandmother who made sure no one that she knew or saw ever went hungry, not even the stray cars in the community. My mother, who poured into the next generation as an elementary school special ed and general ed teacher while putting herself through a master’s program while raising us and somehow not missing one of our sports games. My father who volunteered consistently as the chairman of our church’s deacon board standing with people during some of their most challenging seasons. .
